A day of rest...kind of...

So, today I felt muscles move all over my upper body as I did athletic things like:

  • turn the steering wheel left
  • turn the steering wheel right
  • shift gears
  • reach for my bottle of water

I felt it today. It wasn't pain but it was kind of like reading this blog: tolerable.

I decided to take it easy and *slightly* reward myself by meeting my bud Eric for Pho. If you are unfamiliar with Pho, it is a heavenly Vietnamese noodle soup. Before you say "hey dummy noodles are carbs and you said you are not eating those carbs now", I didn't eat the noodles, they just sat in the bottom of my bowl looking at me. I added extra bean sprouts to my Pho with eye of round and that equals a successful substitution my friends.

Pho was great, it was tasty and presented a good time to chat it up with Eric (who is afflicted with the same sense of humor as me, so we usually venture into topics that amuse us but interest few). Today we traded "one time when I was a kid" stories about urban archery and its unfortunate consequences.

Back to my day of rest...

I am not lifting any weights today obviously, and will enjoy the companionship of my treadmill whilst Muffy is away at her dress rehearsal ***INSERT PLUG FOR THE FREDERICK SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA -- www.fredericksymphony.org***

I neglected to mention that I am past the initial two week Phase One of the South Beach Diet as of Wednesday. (If I was at work, La Tahsa would ask, "What day is it?" and before I even get my mouth open to answer she exclaims, "Drop and give me twenty!") I am staying on Phase One for a while longer, which is recommended if you have to lose the weight I do. I don't mind it, I haven't felt deprived of anything yet and there are plenty of tasty foods available to me on Phase One.

I am preparing for my business trip to Nashville next week. I will be in a hotel all week and subject to my first real "Diet and Exercise Integrity Test"... I am looking forward to the challenge.

Oooh, travel. Plan it out, take stuff with you, be very careful. Even though they're phase 2, get a box of South Beach bars and throw them in your suitcase. Don't get stuck with crappy options.

That is good advice Jeff, thanks. I was scoping out grocery stores to raid for good stuff too.
